Honoring a Legacy: The 62nd Scout Memorial Day

On July 28, the Scouting community gathered to observe the 62nd Scout Memorial Day, a day of profound reflection and heartfelt gratitude. The event served as a solemn remembrance of a remarkable spirit, 1st Class Scout Jose Fermin “Jojo” G. Magbanua. Jojo's unwavering commitment to the ideals of Scouting and his vibrant spirit continue to inspire all who gathered. This commemorative occasion was made possible by the invaluable contributions of many. We extend our deepest appreciation to our distinguished Guest Speakers, Sir Jonathan Badoy and Alex Amor, whose words of wisdom truly enriched the program. The unwavering leadership of Local Council Executive Board Chairperson, Judge Antonio Manuel A. Alcantara, and the presence of Colonel Nehru Gom-os Yurong strengthened the foundation of our community. Negrosanon Scouts Shine at the Regional Scout Youth Forum and Humanitarian Action Workshop

  Roxas City, Capiz – From March 14-16, 2025, the Visayan Scouts of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) actively participated in the Regional Scout Youth Forum and Humanitarian Action Workshop hosted by the Capiz Council at Filamer Christian University. This significant event brought together young leaders from the Eastern and Western Visayas regions to shape the future of Scouting and enhance their humanitarian skills.  2025 Visayas Regional Scout Youth Forum  The delegation from Negros Oriental-Siquijor Council included CSE Queen Marie Truno Ferraren , Josefino "Sir Penn" T. Larena Jr. , and Senior Scouts Jason Godwin Acosta and Jason Godsent Acosta from Silliman University, along with Scott Jordan Dunque Libradilla from Negros Oriental High School. Flag Disposal Ceremony in Negros Oriental 2024

  Today, June 11, 2024, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, BSP Negros Oriental-Siquijor Council, held a solemn Flag Disposal Ceremony as part of the National Flag Week observance. In accordance with Section 14 of the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines (RA 8491), old and worn-out Philippine flags were respectfully burned to prevent misuse or desecration. This ceremony underscores the importance of honoring our national symbol and ensures that the flags, which have served their purpose, are retired with dignity. Council Scout Queen Marie T. Ferraren led the event, supported by Eagle Scouts and Scout Cezar Lopez, who served as the program host. Council Historian Rover Scout Penn T. Larena resource speaker , along with Council Youth Representative Dale Andrew Dy, & Marc Nathaniel Batulan also played pivotal roles in the ceremony.               Rover Scout  Josefino "Sir Penn " Larena  Jr. Boy Scout History of Mr. Josefino  T.Larena Jr. started as Kab and Junior Scout @ C.V.P.C now Negros Oriental State University 1987-1992 ,Senior Scout @ Colegio de Santa Catalina de Alejandria 1992-1996, he was awarded a Presidential Merit Award for Scouting and Volunteerism in May 1996 from the COSCA President  Rover Scout of Silliman University Batch 1999, a full member from 1999 to  2001, and Paul Doltz Service Awardee in 1999. Merit Badge Counsellor in 2018 ,he wrote several articles about Boy Scout events, activities, and was the first person to write a short History of Boy Scouts in Negros Oriental from 1920s to 2014.
