Flag Disposal Ceremony in Negros Oriental 2024

Today, June 11, 2024, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, BSP Negros Oriental-Siquijor Council, held a solemn Flag Disposal Ceremony as part of the National Flag Week observance. In accordance with Section 14 of the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines (RA 8491), old and worn-out Philippine flags were respectfully burned to prevent misuse or desecration. This ceremony underscores the importance of honoring our national symbol and ensures that the flags, which have served their purpose, are retired with dignity.

Council Scout Queen Marie T. Ferraren led the event, supported by Eagle Scouts and Scout Cezar Lopez, who served as the program host. Council Historian Rover Scout Penn T. Larena resource speaker , along with Council Youth Representative Dale Andrew Dy, & Marc Nathaniel Batulan also played pivotal roles in the ceremony. Their involvement highlights the commitment of the scouting community to uphold the values of respect and patriotism.

The Flag and Heraldic Code mandates that flags showing signs of wear must be replaced immediately, emphasizing the respect and reverence due to our national emblem. This ceremonial burning not only fulfills a legal requirement but also serves as a poignant reminder of our duty to honor and cherish the symbols of our nation. To God, we give all the glory and honor.
