A Celebration of Service: Highlights from the 69th Annual National Council Meeting

 

The Scouting movement reached a poignant milestone as the 69th Annual National Council Meeting concluded in Cebu City. The three-day gathering served as a powerful testament to the spirit of volunteerism, focused on recognizing, celebrating, and honoring the dedicated individuals who propelled the movement forward across the Philippines.



A Legacy of Excellence: The 2026 National Court of Honor

The final day of the conference was anchored by the 2026 National Court of Honor, where the organization celebrated the exceptional contributions of its leaders. The ceremonies highlighted a diverse group of awardees who exemplified the values of Scouting, including:

  • Outstanding Scoutmasters

  • Outstanding Regional and Council Chairpersons

  • Outstanding Regional and Council Commissioners

  • Scout Citizen Awardees

  • Valued partners and stakeholders

The atmosphere was filled with pride and gratitude as attendees reflected on three days defined by meaningful collaboration, fellowship, and a shared vision for the future of Scouting.


Distinguished Honors for Local Leaders

Among the many accolades presented, several leaders stood out for their exemplary service:

  • Mayor Stephen A. Palmares was honored as the 2026 Most Outstanding Regional Chairperson of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines. His unwavering dedication to youth development and Scouting served as an inspiration throughout the Western Visayas region.

  • Queen Marie Villanueva Truno-Ferraren, our own Local Council Scout Executive, received the prestigious Gold Usa Award during the National Court of Honor, marking a significant achievement in her Scouting career.




New Leadership for a New Chapter

As the event drew to a close, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines officially welcomed the newly elected Regular Members of the National Executive Board. The following leaders were entrusted with guiding the organization in the coming years:

Rizal Monument of La Libertad Negros Oriental

      The Rizal monument of the Municipality of La Libertad was built during the administration of Honorable Mayor Fabio Torres between the year 1926–1927. From that time up until the term of Honorable Mayor Napoleon Camero, it was located originally in the municipal auditorium. During the administration of Honorable Mayor Lawrence  Limkaichong , there was a project, which proposes to develop the municipality auditorium by converting it into a covered court. This project prompted the decision of the town to relocate and rebuild the Rizal monument into a  more free  field and green area in front of the municipal building and near the police station and health facility probably between the years 2008-2010.
