Bayawan City Rizal Monument History


It was in the 1960s when Bayawan finally had its first Rizal Monument with  Felix Gaudiel, Sr a famous freemason, pioneer member of the Order of the Knights of Rizal, and Law Educator did the Fundraising to build the monument together with the Martinez, Pinili, Villamil,Tangente and the Gaudiel family with the help of the UCCP Church


During the leadership of the City Mayor German Pinili Sarana made the new facelift of the Rizal Park and the new home of the Rizal Monument.


Last Aug 8,2021 Wreath Laying at Dr. Jose Rizal's monument during the momentous Knighting, Chartering, and Exalting Ceremonies of the Order of Knights of Rizal Bayawan City Chapter led by Sir Knights Rusmar Tijing,KCR Chapter Commander and Sir Kenneth Artes Deputy Chapter Commander.

Major Juan Dominado

Juan Dominado, a hero of World War II, was a member of the Organization of the 75th Infantry Regiment 7th Military District (Recognized Guerrilla). He was initially assigned as commanding officer of the 75th Infantry Regiment 7th Military District's Intelligence Section, S-2. He set up an intelligence network to cover the Japanese Forces occupied territory in the province of Negros Oriental. The guerrilla 4th combat squad under him intended to inform the family and citizens in Dumaguete of General Mac Arthur's ayuda (aid) to support the group's operations and the needs of the locals. Negros Pride Month 2022
